In Ephesians 5, Paul continues his warnings against and strategies for avoiding sin. But here his tone and purpose have changed. He is no longer merely warning against sin, but how curtain sins - those that are based on the false hope that we can construct our happiness with our own hands - can lead us out of light and new life and back into darkness. What we need is not just right actions, but holy affections - a love for God and joy in Christ.
