Publisher's Summary:
Gemma Summers is unlucky in love. She's known it since third grade, when her first crush blew a spitball into her hair, and a decade-long string of bad dates, boring sex, and abysmal morning afters has done nothing to improve her prospects. But when a random radio call-in contest lands her courtside tickets to the hottest playoff game of the season, Gemma's luck may finally be on the upswing, even if it doesn't exactly seem like it when the dreaded Jumbotron kiss cam lands on her and her date, who's too busy ignoring her to notice.
Chase Croft doesn't date. Despite ample opportunity as Boston's most eligible bachelor, the reformed bad boy would rather put his energy into taking over the family business than weed through a world of gold diggers to find an honest woman. But when the beautiful girl in the seat next to him becomes a courtside spectacle at the hands of her loser boyfriend, he can't help but step in and save the day.

couldn't stand the characters in the story
Never like when the characters are shallow. Can't relate at all with any of them. I read a view that said this book was funny, I think it is more annoying than funny.
Good story but the narrator missed the mark.
I enjoyed the story and would recommend this book but only if the narrator being yell-y isn't a problem for you. She was always way too emotional and it got annoying about halfway through. She missed many jokes because of it. It didn't bother me too much but it was still kinda annoying. She also managed to not yell the lines that were suppose to be super emotional..
Funny but Narration was rough.
I truly liked the personalities of most of the characters. It was a bit exaggerated here and there, not believable.
However if you want reality you probably should steer clear of the romance genre, just saying. Plus the ridiculousness of it provided half the humor.
The writing was good but there were several times that I almost stopped listening because of the narration. I understand male voices are not perfect with a female narrator, but these male voices were pretty awful. Whenever a male character was mad they were almost whiny. It did make it hard to listen to at times.
I will definitely read more Julie Johnson and would even listen to more on audible if there was a different narrator.
No, it's you.
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
Seriously, this was a credit wasted. First of all, very immaturely written. Chase needs to stop saying Gemma all the time. In fact, everyone needs to stop saying Gemma so much. It makes me wonder if the hardcover book has Gemma written a minimum of 7 times on each page. Also, Chase's character is written terribly. At first he can't love and has never been in a relationship and will never be one. And literally almost the next page he's in love and can't live without her. All of this, is besides the fact that each step is terribly predictable. The narrator? Okay well, she should tween's characters. Her voice for the males is incredibly immature, and makes the man sound like he's hidden in a dark dungeon, with his eyes hidden, while speaking.
Story has potential but narrator has ruined it
I'm sending this one back. What I have listened to has been a good story but the narrator has no timing. There have been funny parts that she missed the mark on completely.
