Spotlight: Jeffrey Zeigler – World-Renowned Cellist & Family Connection (My Cousin)
Website: https://www.jzcello.com/about
We were truly honored to welcome Jeffrey Zeigler onto the Buckle Up Podcast Universe—a world-renowned cellist whose journey is as powerful and moving as the music he plays.
Jeffrey’s story is one of brilliance, resilience, and discovery. Through Ancestry.com, he found a long-lost family connection—our cousin Vivian—which ultimately led him to my father, David N. Smith, before he passed. My dad had spent much of his life searching for family, so reconnecting with Jeffrey was nothing short of a divine blessing. It brought our family full circle.
Jeffrey has performed at the highest level imaginable. From Carnegie Hall to stages around the globe, he has played with some of the greatest minds and talents ever to grace classical music. His musical mentors—whom I jokingly call the Obi-Wan Kenobi and Yoda of the cello world—shaped him into the artist he is today.
What made this episode so special was hearing about Jeffrey’s unconventional path into the world of cello. His story defies the traditional narrative—it’s honest, vulnerable, inspiring, and a masterclass in what it means to pursue your passion without compromise.
We laughed, we reflected, and we celebrated a journey that’s far from over. Jeffrey Zeigler is more than just a world-renowned musician—he’s family, and having him on the show was a gift we’ll always cherish.
