The Parable of the Talents, found in Matthew 25:14-30 is, without a doubt, a difficult read! On the face of it, it appears to be a story about gifts and how we use them in the world to produce yield. Those to whom much is given, much is expected. Yet there’s something amiss in a traditional reading, something that those on the margins likely sense–injustice and exploitation. Thus, to step into this parable begs the question: where is God? And the answer to that question is the core of my sermon titled “Notes on Stewardship from Hell.” Please join me for what I hope to be a thought-provoking exploration!
