Pentecost emphasizes the sending of the Holy Spirit to empower the disciples of Christ to carry on His mission in the world. In our text, Jesus warns His disciples of their pending persecution for being faithful in their confession of Christ. Jesus knows that those who follow Him have almost everything to fear while at the same time they have absolutely nothing to fear.
