In this episode of The Catch Up with Claire, I’m joined by Noureen, a mom of three living in Cairo, Egypt.
We were introduced through a mutual friend and immediately connected over how similar our lives felt despite being on opposite sides of the world. From both having backgrounds in mental health counseling to navigating postpartum depression and raising three kids, this conversation felt like catching up with an old friend.
We talk about the realities of motherhood that don’t always get shared openly: parenting kids at different ages, the emotional weight of watching your children struggle as they grow, and how hard it can be to talk about those challenges out loud.
We also get into:
Postpartum depression and mental health in motherhood
The differences in how women and men approach therapy
Setting boundaries with parents and grandparents
How friendships shift after becoming a mom
More than anything, this conversation is a reminder that even across different cultures and countries, so much of what we carry is the same.
If you’ve ever felt alone in the harder parts of motherhood, this episode will make you feel a little less so.
