Nourishment as a Spiritual Practice with Sara Robb-Scott

Listen Later

Hello, and welcome to another episode of Some Random Thoughts. I am your host, Ryan Mulkowsky. This season, we focus on our guests in the “What’s Your Passion” series. We continue this season with Sara Robb-Scott: pastor, chaplain, & avid cook.
In this episode, we discuss Robb-Scott’s background being an adopted child, the emotional complexities that come with being adopted and wanting to discover your familial roots, her professional work as a chaplain bereavement coordinator in the hospital setting, the intersections that came with leading Spanish speaking grief support groups and the reminders of her ethnicity being a Latina woman, her discovering food as a tool for connecting with her ethnicity, body, and mind along with understanding the concept of nourishment not only as a physical necessity but a spiritual practice. We conclude our conversation with discussing her doctoral work studying whiteness has impacted biblical interpretation and how we can reimagine sacred text in more full, live-giving, liberating ways.
Bio: Sara Robb-Scott is Director of Spiritual Care at Eaton Senior Communities and Pastor of The Church @Eaton. In her free time, Sara loves to cook and read mystery thrillers.
