'Noy-pi' | with Chef Sharwin Tee

Listen Later

It's a known fact that we Filipinos are a mixture of various races. Our ethnicity is a product of various races being molded together. As true as this fact is, some members of our society still view half-Filipino citizens as aliens to our land.  The worst part is, they actually get discriminated by full-blooded Filipinos. Just like what this week's writer Sharwin Tee experienced back then. Biologically, he may be a half-Chinese and half-Filipino, but he is definitely not a "check-in". He is a proud Pinoy and he explains why in this week's featured essay, "Noy-Pi."  | Sharwin's essay was first published on February 5, 2005. Today, he joins our new host, Joshua Onsay, on his first hosting session with Young Blood to talk about his experience as a Chinese-Filipino, what it means to truly understand racial discrimination and its nuances and of course, what he's excited about these days. |  About the guest: Sharwin Tee is a chef, television host, and author. He hosts Let's Do Lunch which appears on GMA NewsTV and was the host of Curiosity Got the Chef. He also co-hosts the Sini Gang podcast.
