In this first episode of the NRL Irrational Mergers mini series I am joined by Matt from the NRL Bulldogs podcast. The year is 1998, the newly formed NRL set out to reduce clubs to reach the magic number of 14 by 2000. The criteria is set and the 12 Sydney and Illawarra clubs are offered $8M and other exemptions to make mergers happen. We examine the possible choices for merger partners for the Bulldogs.
