Former NRL star Matt Utai was shot twice in the stomach and leg during a drive-by attack outside his Greenacre home on Macquarie Street. Police believe the shooting was a case of mistaken identity, with investigators examining whether Utai's son Iziah was the intended target. The 44-year-old, who has no criminal history, underwent emergency surgery at St George Hospital after being ambushed by up to three people in a white SUV, with the getaway vehicle later found torched in Wiley Park.
