Hassel Aviles has 2 decades of foodservice and leadership experience in the hospitality industry primarily in restaurants, events and entrepreneurship. Early in her career she created Toronto Underground Market (TUM), a large-scale food and beverage festival and incubator designed for food entrepreneurs, chefs and home cooks. From 2011-2014 there were 25 TUM events each one was attended by thousands. It produced enormous tourism and economic impact to the city of Toronto and the entire local food & beverage industry. TUM gave birth to dozens of food brands in the GTA, including restaurants, chef celebrities, food trucks & catering companies creating over 500 new jobs in Ontario. She leveraged it to grow another brand she co-created called La Carnita, now a global restaurant franchise. In 2014, she was part of the small team that developed Toronto’s first local food tech delivery company, Feast as the Culinary Director.
