Universities South Africa which is an umbrella body representing public universities has welcomed the decision by the National Student Financial Aid Scheme’s controversial direct payment system, eZaga. You may remember how disastrous this system was and how it left many beneficiaries without funding which led students around the country taking to the streets in protest. Last week Thursday, the scheme’s board gave Andile Nongongo who is the CEO until today (Monday) to plead his case with them. As much as action is being taken, where does this leave the beneficiaries?
