Childcare centres across New South Wales have been found violating the national ban on staff smartphone use at work, with surprise inspections by 100 officers revealing half of all centres checked were in breach of regulations. The ban was legislated in October last year by health ministers following revelations that paedophiles had filmed children in daycare facilities. Centres caught breaking the rules have so far avoided hefty fines.
