Hurricane Milton’s outer bands began reaching Florida, bringing torrential rain, destructive tornadoes, and storm surges. It’s set to make landfall on the state’s Gulf Coast as a Category 3 storm overnight.

President Joe Biden said Milton is looking like “the storm of the century” and urged residents to heed evacuation orders. Due to the hurricane, Biden postponed an event Thursday that marks the centenary of diplomatic relations between the United States and Ireland.
