President Joe Biden is asking Americans to lower the political temperature after the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump. President Biden addressed the nation from the White House on July 14. Former President Trump’s ear was injured by a bullet. However, one audience member was killed and two others seriously wounded. The former president is expected at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee on July 15. He’s set to formally accept the GOP’s nomination for president this week.

Former President Trump says he plans to call for national unity in his Republican National Convention speech. The former president told the Washington Examiner that after the assassination attempt, he rewrote his speech to focus on unity.

The Secret Service says it’s fully prepared to make sure the Republican National Convention will be safe this week. The agency says it will not make any changes to its security plan despite the attempted assassination of former President Trump.
