Former President Donald Trump is officially the Republican Party’s 2024 presidential nominee. NTD has takeaways from day one of the Republican National Convention.

Eric Trump says his father has never been more determined. Former President Trump’s second son awarded Florida’s final delegate vote to his father last night at the Republican National Convention. He also told reporters what it’s been like for his family in the days since the attempted assassination.

Meanwhile, Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas says an independent review of the attempted assassination will be conducted. FBI agents were seen entering the home of the suspected shooter on Monday.

Former President Trump has announced Ohio Senator J.D. Vance as his running mate. In recent years, the 39-year-old turned from a fierce Trump critic into one of his most vocal supporters. Mr. Vance previously worked as a venture capitalist, a judicial clerk, and as a United States Marine. Mr. Vance could become the youngest vice president since former vice president and, subsequently, President Richard Nixon.
