I heard a marketer talking today about the money you can make with MLM (Multi-Level Marketing).
In a world where people are looking for side hustles to make ends meet - this is very tempting to those unaware of the industry.
They stated that with just the right six people doing what they're supposed to do, seeing what you see, and wanting the same things you want - you could earn up to well over 23K per month. After giving this number, they said, "...not an Income Claim - just the math." Guess what? That's just a huge load of B.S.!
Chasing the concept of "...just the math." will cause 97-99+% of people to lose. And that's NOT a "...just the math." statement - but a "Numbers Don't Lie" statement.
So even though the numbers don't lie - unfortunately, many marketers DO! Or, at the very least - they stretch what's potentially true until it's about to snap!
If you want a real look at MLM - compare it to that of a beer commercial. You see beautiful people doing fun stuff and behaving responsibly. How does that compare to most real-life beer drinking? An OVERWHELMING amount of times - it DOESN'T! The same is true of MLM. You have a MINUSCULE group of people showing you their lifestyle and attributing it to MLM. You don't see the 99+% of people who don't make money and lose it.
Before someone brings it up in the comments - let me give a preemptive strike. People will say...
"Oh yeah, Wes?!? WELL, what about all the people licensed in beauty, real estate, and insurance - but never do anything with it?!? I guess those are dodgy professions too, HUH?!?"
EVERY profession and activity has people that never take action. That's just human nature. But the above examples are just another part of the tapestry companies, and "leaders" weave into their stories to sway you. It's like the "Right Six People" statement at the beginning of this post. That's a dreamy way of saying, "Find six people who in turn will bring on six people who also bring on six people (down SEVERAL more levels) - who ALL purchase a specific amount of product every month (As well as any other requirements) - and never stop the process." Saying this to someone with a straight face HAS to be hard!
And don't think I'm simply regurgitating numbers and information. Since joining my first MLM in the late 80's - I've been in dozens of them. And even though I can give kudos and praise to a couple of them, most were a disappointment and not something I would suggest people do.
