Números 22:4-20:
Y dijo Moab a los ancianos de Madián: —¡Ahora esta multitud lamerá todos nuestros contornos, como el buey lame la hierba del campo! Balac hijo de Zipor era en aquel tiempo rey de Moab. Y envió mensajeros a Balaam hijo de Beor, en Petor, junto al Río, en la tierra de los hijos de su pueblo para llamarlo diciendo: “He aquí un pueblo ha salido de Egipto y cubre la faz de la tierra, y ya está frente a mí. Ahora, por favor, ven y maldíceme a este pueblo, porque es más fuerte que yo. Quizás yo pueda derrotarlo y echarlo de la tierra. Porque yo sé que aquel a quien tú bendices es bendito, y aquel a quien maldices es maldito”.
Los ancianos de Moab y los ancianos de Madián fueron llevando con ellos los honorarios del adivino. Llegaron a donde estaba Balaam y le comunicaron las palabras de Balac. Y él les dijo: —Pasen aquí la noche, y yo les daré respuesta según lo que me hable el SEÑOR.
Así que los principales de Moab se quedaron con Balaam. Entonces Dios vino a Balaam y le preguntó: —¿Quiénes son estos hombres que están contigo?
Balaam respondió a Dios: —Balac hijo de Zipor, rey de Moab, me ha mandado a decir: “He aquí que un pueblo ha salido de Egipto y cubre la faz de la tierra. Ahora, ven y maldícemelo; quizás así pueda yo combatir contra él y echarlo”.
Entonces Dios dijo a Balaam: —No vayas con ellos ni maldigas al pueblo, porque es bendito.
Balaam se levantó de mañana y dijo a los principales de Balac: —Regresen a su tierra, porque el SEÑOR ha rehusado dejar que yo vaya con ustedes.
Los principales de Moab partieron, y cuando llegaron a donde estaba Balac, le dijeron: —Balaam rehusó venir con nosotros.
Balac volvió a enviar otros principales, más numerosos y más distinguidos que los anteriores. Llegaron a Balaam y le dijeron: —Así ha dicho Balac hijo de Zipor: “Por favor, no dejes de venir a mí, porque ciertamente te honraré mucho y haré todo lo que tú me digas. Por favor, ven y maldíceme a este pueblo”.
Pero Balaam respondió y dijo a los servidores de Balac: —Aunque Balac me diera su casa llena de plata y de oro, yo no podría transgredir el mandato del SEÑOR mi Dios para hacer cosa alguna, pequeña ni grande. Ahora, por favor, permanezcan también ustedes aquí esta noche, y sabré qué más me dice el SEÑOR.
Entonces Dios vino a Balaam de noche y le dijo: —Si los hombres han venido a llamarte, levántate y ve con ellos. Pero solo harás lo que yo te diga.

¡Aquí podemos ver cómo Dios protege a su pueblo en contra de maldiciones y conjuros!
También miramos cómo un hombre, llamado Balaam, que escuchaba la voz de Dios se dejó seducir por las riquezas prometidas, poniéndose en contra de Dios, desobedeciendo Su mandato.
Aquí vemos un ejemplo de lo que significa el libre albedrío. Según el diccionario, libre albedrío significa: “potestad de obrar libremente, tras reflexión y elección.”
Cuando tú sabes lo que es lo correcto, lo que agrada a Dios, y le pides a Dios dirección en algún asunto, pero tú insistes en tomar una decisión en contra de la voluntad de Dios, el Señor va a permitirte hacer lo que quieres. Dios no obliga a nadie que no quiera seguirlo o escuchar sus consejos. Dios nos da los parámetros a seguir y nosotros debemos usar el sentido común y el dominio propio para seguir Sus consejos, Su Palabra, Sus mandamientos.
Así nos guste o no nos guste, debemos usar la razón y no el corazón. Quiero decir, no dejarnos llevar por las emociones.
Balaam ya sabía que Israel era el pueblo de Dios y no podía proferir alguna maldición en contra de ellos. Pero el rey de Moab insistió varias veces hasta que el Señor le dijo a Balaam que fuera pero que al final debía hacer lo que Dios le dijera.
Balaam, en vez de bendecir a Israel, buscaba pretextos para encontrar una forma de maldecirlos para poder ganarse las riquezas y honores que le habían prometido. Como él prefirió ignorar la orden de Dios, un ángel casi lo mata en el camino, y su burro lo salvó.
Espero que podamos ser cada día sensatos y prudentes, que seamos sensibles a la voz de Dios y hacer la diferencia entre lo que deseamos y lo que debemos hacer.
Al final, Balaam no pudo maldecir al pueblo de Dios, casi muere en el camino y perdió los privilegios que iba a obtener. Mañana vamos a mirar el final de este intento de destrucción contra Israel.

So Moab said to the elders of Midian, “Now this company will lick up everything around us, as an ox licks up the grass of the field.” And Balak the son of Zippor was king of the Moabites at that time. Then he sent messengers to Balaam the son of Beor at Pethor, which is near the River in the land of the sons of his people, to call him, saying: “Look, a people has come from Egypt. See, they cover the face of the earth, and are settling next to me! Therefore please come at once, curse this people for me, for they are too mighty for me. Perhaps I shall be able to defeat them and drive them out of the land, for I know that he whom you bless is blessed, and he whom you curse is cursed.”
So the elders of Moab and the elders of Midian departed with the diviner’s fee in their hand, and they came to Balaam and spoke to him the words of Balak. And he said to them, “Lodge here tonight, and I will bring back word to you, as the Lord speaks to me.” So the princes of Moab stayed with Balaam.
Then God came to Balaam and said, “Who are these men with you?”
So Balaam said to God, “Balak the son of Zippor, king of Moab, has sent to me, saying, ‘Look, a people has come out of Egypt, and they cover the face of the earth. Come now, curse them for me; perhaps I shall be able to overpower them and drive them out.’ ”
And God said to Balaam, “You shall not go with them; you shall not curse the people, for they are blessed.”
So Balaam rose in the morning and said to the princes of Balak, “Go back to your land, for the Lord has refused to give me permission to go with you.”
And the princes of Moab rose and went to Balak, and said, “Balaam refuses to come with us.”
Then Balak again sent princes, more numerous and more honorable than they. And they came to Balaam and said to him, “Thus says Balak the son of Zippor: ‘Please let nothing hinder you from coming to me; for I will certainly honor you greatly, and I will do whatever you say to me. Therefore please come, curse this people for me.’ ”
Then Balaam answered and said to the servants of Balak, “Though Balak were to give me his house full of silver and gold, I could not go beyond the word of the Lord my God, to do less or more. Now therefore, please, you also stay here tonight, that I may know what more the Lord will say to me.”
And God came to Balaam at night and said to him, “If the men come to call you, rise and go with them; but only the word which I speak to you—that you shall do.”

Here we can see how God protects His people against curses and spells!
We also see how a man, named Balaam, who listened to the voice of God allowed himself to be seduced by the promised riches, turning against God, disobeying His command.
Here we see an example of what free will means. According to the dictionary, free will means: "the power to act freely, after reflection and choice."
When you know what is right, what pleases God, and you ask God for direction in some matter, but you insist on making a decision against God's will, the Lord will allow you to do what you want. God does not force anyone who does not want to follow Him or listen to His advice. God gives us the parameters to follow and we must use common sense and self-control to follow His advice, His Word, His commandments.
Whether we like it or not, we must use reason and not the heart. I mean, don't get carried away by emotions.
Balaam already knew that Israel was the people of God and he could not pronounce any curse against them. But the king of the Moabites insisted several times that the Lord told Balaam to go but that in the end he had to do what God told him.
Balaam, instead of blessing Israel, was looking for pretexts to find a way to curse them in order to earn the riches and honors they had promised him. As he chose to ignore God's order, an angel almost killed him on the way, and his donkey saved him.
I hope that we can be sensible and prudent every day, that we are sensitive to the voice of God and make the difference between what we want and what we should do.
In the end, Balaam could not curse the people of God, he almost died on the way and lost the privileges that he was going to obtain. Tomorrow we will see the end of this destruction attempt against Israel.

Then Balaam answered and said to the servants of Balak, “Though Balak were to give me his house full of silver and gold, I could not go beyond the word of the Lord my God, to do less or more. Now therefore, please, you also stay here tonight, that I may know what more the Lord will say to me.”
And God came to Balaam at night and said to him, “If the men come to call you, rise and go with them; but only the word which I speak to you—that you shall do.”

When you know what is right, what pleases God, and you ask God for direction in some matter, but you insist on making a decision against God's will, the Lord will allow you to do what you want. God does not force anyone who does not want to follow Him or listen to His advice. God gives us the parameters to follow and we must use common sense and self-control to follow His advice, His Word, His commandments.
Whether we like it or not, we must use reason and not the heart. I mean, don't get carried away by emotions.
Balaam already knew that Israel was the people of God and he could not pronounce any curse against them. But the king of the Moabites insisted several times that the Lord told Balaam to go but that in the end he had to do what God told him.
Balaam, instead of blessing Israel, was looking for pretexts to find a way to curse them in order to earn the riches and honors they had promised him. As he chose to ignore God's order, an angel almost killed him on the way, and his donkey saved him.
I hope that we can be sensible and prudent every day, that we are sensitive to the voice of God and make the difference between what we want and what we should do.
In the end, Balaam could not curse the people of God, he almost died on the way and lost the privileges that he was going to obtain. Tomorrow we will see the end of this destruction attempt against Israel.

Números 22:4-20:
Y dijo Moab a los ancianos de Madián: —¡Ahora esta multitud lamerá todos nuestros contornos, como el buey lame la hierba del campo! Balac hijo de Zipor era en aquel tiempo rey de Moab. Y envió mensajeros a Balaam hijo de Beor, en Petor, junto al Río, en la tierra de los hijos de su pueblo para llamarlo diciendo: “He aquí un pueblo ha salido de Egipto y cubre la faz de la tierra, y ya está frente a mí. Ahora, por favor, ven y maldíceme a este pueblo, porque es más fuerte que yo. Quizás yo pueda derrotarlo y echarlo de la tierra. Porque yo sé que aquel a quien tú bendices es bendito, y aquel a quien maldices es maldito”.
Los ancianos de Moab y los ancianos de Madián fueron llevando con ellos los honorarios del adivino. Llegaron a donde estaba Balaam y le comunicaron las palabras de Balac. Y él les dijo: —Pasen aquí la noche, y yo les daré respuesta según lo que me hable el SEÑOR.
Así que los principales de Moab se quedaron con Balaam. Entonces Dios vino a Balaam y le preguntó: —¿Quiénes son estos hombres que están contigo?
Balaam respondió a Dios: —Balac hijo de Zipor, rey de Moab, me ha mandado a decir: “He aquí que un pueblo ha salido de Egipto y cubre la faz de la tierra. Ahora, ven y maldícemelo; quizás así pueda yo combatir contra él y echarlo”.
Entonces Dios dijo a Balaam: —No vayas con ellos ni maldigas al pueblo, porque es bendito.
Balaam se levantó de mañana y dijo a los principales de Balac: —Regresen a su tierra, porque el SEÑOR ha rehusado dejar que yo vaya con ustedes.
Los principales de Moab partieron, y cuando llegaron a donde estaba Balac, le dijeron: —Balaam rehusó venir con nosotros.
Balac volvió a enviar otros principales, más numerosos y más distinguidos que los anteriores. Llegaron a Balaam y le dijeron: —Así ha dicho Balac hijo de Zipor: “Por favor, no dejes de venir a mí, porque ciertamente te honraré mucho y haré todo lo que tú me digas. Por favor, ven y maldíceme a este pueblo”.
Pero Balaam respondió y dijo a los servidores de Balac: —Aunque Balac me diera su casa llena de plata y de oro, yo no podría transgredir el mandato del SEÑOR mi Dios para hacer cosa alguna, pequeña ni grande. Ahora, por favor, permanezcan también ustedes aquí esta noche, y sabré qué más me dice el SEÑOR.
Entonces Dios vino a Balaam de noche y le dijo: —Si los hombres han venido a llamarte, levántate y ve con ellos. Pero solo harás lo que yo te diga.

Este es un capítulo lleno de lecciones y muchas emociones por los eventos únicos que sucedieron. ¡No olvides leerlo todo para que veas los detalles de este evento dramático!
¡Aquí podemos ver cómo Dios protege a su pueblo en contra de maldiciones y conjuros!
También miramos cómo un hombre, llamado Balaam, que escuchaba la voz de Dios se dejó seducir por las riquezas prometidas, poniéndose en contra de Dios, desobedeciendo Su mandato.
Aquí vemos un ejemplo de lo que significa el libre albedrío. Según el diccionario, libre albedrío significa: “potestad de obrar libremente, tras reflexión y elección.”
Cuando tú sabes lo que es lo correcto, lo que agrada a Dios, y le pides a Dios dirección en algún asunto, pero tú insistes en tomar una decisión en contra de la voluntad de Dios, el Señor va a permitirte hacer lo que quieres. Dios no obliga a nadie que no quiera seguirlo o escuchar sus consejos. Dios nos da los parámetros a seguir y nosotros debemos usar el sentido común y el dominio propio para seguir Sus consejos, Su Palabra, Sus mandamientos.
Así nos guste o no nos guste, debemos usar la razón y no el corazón. Quiero decir, no dejarnos llevar por las emociones.
Balaam ya sabía que Israel era el pueblo de Dios y no podía proferir alguna maldición en contra de ellos. Pero el rey de Moab insistió varias veces hasta que el Señor le dijo a Balaam que fuera pero que al final debía hacer lo que Dios le dijera.
Balaam, en vez de bendecir a Israel, buscaba pretextos para encontrar una forma de maldecirlos para poder ganarse las riquezas y honores que le habían prometido. Como él prefirió ignorar la orden de Dios, un ángel casi lo mata en el camino, y su burro lo salvó.
Espero que podamos ser cada día sensatos y prudentes, que seamos sensibles a la voz de Dios y hacer la diferencia entre lo que deseamos y lo que debemos hacer.
Al final, Balaam no pudo maldecir al pueblo de Dios, casi muere en el camino y perdió los privilegios que iba a obtener. Mañana vamos a mirar el final de este intento de destrucción contra Israel.

So Moab said to the elders of Midian, “Now this company will lick up everything around us, as an ox licks up the grass of the field.” And Balak the son of Zippor was king of the Moabites at that time. Then he sent messengers to Balaam the son of Beor at Pethor, which is near the River in the land of the sons of his people, to call him, saying: “Look, a people has come from Egypt. See, they cover the face of the earth, and are settling next to me! Therefore please come at once, curse this people for me, for they are too mighty for me. Perhaps I shall be able to defeat them and drive them out of the land, for I know that he whom you bless is blessed, and he whom you curse is cursed.”
So the elders of Moab and the elders of Midian departed with the diviner’s fee in their hand, and they came to Balaam and spoke to him the words of Balak. And he said to them, “Lodge here tonight, and I will bring back word to you, as the Lord speaks to me.” So the princes of Moab stayed with Balaam.
Then God came to Balaam and said, “Who are these men with you?”
So Balaam said to God, “Balak the son of Zippor, king of Moab, has sent to me, saying, ‘Look, a people has come out of Egypt, and they cover the face of the earth. Come now, curse them for me; perhaps I shall be able to overpower them and drive them out.’ ”
And God said to Balaam, “You shall not go with them; you shall not curse the people, for they are blessed.”
So Balaam rose in the morning and said to the princes of Balak, “Go back to your land, for the Lord has refused to give me permission to go with you.”
And the princes of Moab rose and went to Balak, and said, “Balaam refuses to come with us.”
Then Balak again sent princes, more numerous and more honorable than they. And they came to Balaam and said to him, “Thus says Balak the son of Zippor: ‘Please let nothing hinder you from coming to me; for I will certainly honor you greatly, and I will do whatever you say to me. Therefore please come, curse this people for me.’ ”
