The Sound of Crime

Nursing Never Seen Again- Maura Murray Disappeared - James Renner - The Sound of Crime -Episode 13

Listen Later

On a dark cold night on Route 112 in New Hampshire in February of 2004, a 21 year old nursing student named Maura Murray crashed her car into a snow bank and disappeared in 7 minutes never to be seen again.
This seemingly insignificant event has generated a book, many podcasts, many documentaries, and full blown Oxygen TV series.
James Renner, a well-known crime writer and author of the definitive book on Maura Murray entitled True Crime Addict talks not only about this case but also the obsession that this case has created and the phenomenon of cases like this.
James has fully investigated this case, including recently following a lead to Florida where there have been Maura Murray sightings and an instance where her social security number was used.
This episode concentrates on the theory that Maura escaped to Canada and is living either there or in Florida.
Her body was never found even after extensive searches and James told us that the family is currently raising funds to do another search in the area of New Hampshire where the crash occurred almost 16 years ago.
James and Lance Reenstierna and Tim Pilleri of Crawlspace Media took a trip to Canada in 2013 to try and find Maura Murray. They did not but came up with some creditable leads.
You can find the series on Amazon by searching for Finding Maura Murray Crawlspace Media.
