WORT 89.9FM Madison · “Nutkracken!” Takes A Holiday Classic Under The Sea

You’re probably familiar with the story of Tchaikovsky’s the Nutcracker Suite.  Long a staple of the holiday season, the ballet’s storyline of the young girl Clara, who befriends a living Nutcracker and does battle with the Mouse King has entertained audiences for over a century.   On Sunday, December 10, Beatrix Productions will take the venerable warhorse into new territory.  There’s a couple of things different in this version.  First of all, the ballet has been replaced with circus performances.  Secondly, the setting has been changed to under the sea.  Amy Owen of Beatrix Productions joined the Monday Buzz on December 4, 2023.
