Great suspense and romance
I have loved this book, stayed sometimes in my car at the garage to listen to the end of a chapter. The story enfolds step by step, but the suspense stays until the very end with many twists. Two parallel story: the crime and the private life of the detective. And the crime story is also told double: once by the criminal and once by the detective. The narrators are absolulety stunning, they both are brilliant to switch between the characters and add a lot to the interpretation of the story. Some parts I have listened to several times due to the funny and/or great narration. I highly recommend this book to everyone, its the best listen I have ever had!
An enjoyable listen
Good story well plotted and well read. I liked how the two PoV characters had different narrators
I can hear the author now....... "Please make me into a movie!"
If you could sum up NYPD Red in three words, what would they be?
Formulaic
Captivating
Fun
What other book might you compare NYPD Red to, and why?
Can't think of a book to compare it to but feels like an 80's cop buddy movie!
What three words best describe Edoardo Ballerini and Jay Snyder s performance?
Concise
Enunciated
Dry
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Moved....... No
Any additional comments?
The story is easy to listen to and the set pieces came along with a nice frequency to keep the interest going. Hard to feel for the key characters too much as they come across as a bit "TV" movie.
Great ending
I'm a big fan of James Patterson and have read most of his work (or listened to) and this for me wasn't one of his better ones. The story took quite a while to capture my interest and the characters didn't get their usual build up until a lot later in the story.
Having said that by a third of the way in I was in there, in the thick of it and there was enough of the usual and enough of the surprise to keep me hooked to the end.
Just a 4 star from me but well worth a listen
A really good place to start reading James Patters
By now you know what you are getting with a James Patterson thriller and this doesnt disapoint.
