In this episode I share my thoughts on NYPD constantly failing the mentally ill. Justice for Eudes Pierre 🙏🏾🕊https://chng.it/Z6GHMTgHXC A cry for help can be hidden in different forms. On December 20th 2021 Eudes Pierre, a beloved member of his community, did exactly so. At approximately 04:10 Am Easten Time the New York Police Department received a call about a man carrying a knife and a gun. The 71st precinct located at 421 Empire Blvd responded to the call. When they arrived on the scene they found Eudes with a pink kitchen Knife in one pocket and his other pocket just his hands. Little did they know Eudes called the cops on himself that night.
Two Years earlier Eudes was diagnosed with bi-polar disorder after his first known suicide attempt. Eudes was hospitalized at Kings County Hospital after his mother called law enforcement.
Eudes a selfless man, a beloved man, had dreams and aspirations of one day retiring his mom. Eudes Pierre tried to leave the area by going out to the train station. Where he was followed and provoked. Eudes who later on went back above ground charged at the cop who responded on scene recieved 7 shots by one officer and another 3 by the other present. Although non-lethal methods were used. We as his friends, brother, sister, family, and community are asking for more from those who are assigned to “serve and protect the community”.
We are asking for the ‘’Eudes Pierre law’’ where this law would require that a behavioral specialist be present on site to every police call. This law also will introduce maneuver techniques that can be used instead of the lethal method that was used. Alternatives solutions are needed by the NYPD and that is what we are voicing. As this tragedy will forever be engraved in our memories we are asking that the narative of it comes with a problem solving outcome. In addition we would that it "Eastern Parkway and Utica Ave" be forever be rememebered as Eudes Way
Lack of training and sympathy were obviously lacking in this situation. Eudes was only endangering himself as did not deserve 10. Speculation can be made as the after of this incident. At the moment better thinking was what was required. As this incident is not the first, we would like this to be the last cry for help that was unanswered.
