NYT: “Mr. Allison thanks so much for joining us. Now of your morning show host contemporaries you appear to be the most “angry”, or “fired up” about the social and political injustices of today, would you agree with this assessment and why?”
JA: “Well I-I think that i’m just more in-tune you know, with the different things that are going on out there or whatever, and I do get upset! [laughs] I mean a lot of this...s-stuff is f’ed up! It’s screwed! So how could you not get a little bit upset? [laughs]”
NYT: “I’m sure. So you would say that you’re more —to borrow your phrasing here— “in-tune” with the various kinds of social and political struggles out there than say...your average Joe?”
JA: “Well im not up on everything — for sure, but for the most part I mean, i’d say I'm fairly “aware” of what's going on, you know.”
NYT: “Interesting, would you say that your ''fair” awareness falls short of knowing prominent historical figures, say like that of Louis Farrakhan?”
JA: O-kay thats..[Deep sigh]...So that nasty rumor that I don’t know who Louis Farrakhan is, is bull----, so let's just get that out of the way right now and... what was that? —What the f--- was that?
JA: “Mr. Allison please it’s just a cell phone, remain seated sir.”
JA: “No. No! I know what a damn phone looks like Jack, and I don’t see a g--damn landline around here anywhere. Where the f---- is that racket coming from!? It sounds like little men, little tiny men! How many you hidin’ here huh? A thousand? A million? Show me your secret tiny men g--damnit and their miniature instruments too!”
NYT: “Mr. Allison please! We do not—”
JA: “Come out! Come on out right now where I can see yah!”
NYT: “The lights! Mr. Allison please come down, the lighting rig can't support your—!”
[Audio ends abruptly]
