Fire and Emergency New Zealand (FENZ) is confident there are enough fire fighting resources in New Zealand should a large wildfire take hold right now.
So far this fire season, 179 New Zealand firefighters have been sent in shifts to help Australia fight their enormous and fatal wildfires.
FENZ says helping a close neighbour is always a priority, but it has to be balanced with needs locally.
