Oasis is an English Britpop and alternative rock band, formed in Manchester in 1991. Previously in 1990, they were known as The Rain, the group featured singer Chris Hutton, guitarist Paul Arthurs, bassist Paul McGuigan and drummer Daniel Alexander, who were later joined in 1991 by Liam Gallagher on vocals and Tony McCarroll on drums. The last to join the group was Liam's older brother, Noel Gallagher (at his own brother's request), who was given the role of lead songwriter, lead guitarist and backup singer.
