Under the Old Law, obedience (as defined by the world) was based upon repetitive actions that could easily be faked to fein true love for God. Not only could you fool others, but you could fool yourself into believing you were righteous. Under this new and better covenant, obedience is based upon true love and fear of God, with actions that cannot be faked.
