Obsidian Silence is a female fronted Hard Rock/Prog band based in Pasadena, CA, with a sound that can best described as a mixture of Evanescence, Megadeth, and Dream Theater, and with members from the U.S., Brazil, Colombia, & Mexico. Their debut EP - Obsidian Silence - is officially out and available on iTunes, Spotify and all the other online retailers and streaming services!!
The band was born in early 2013 when Miguel and Fernanda, fellow international students at the Los Angeles College of Music in Pasadena (formerly known as LAMA), realized they shared many of the same hard rock and heavy metal influences, including bands such as Nightwish, Stratovarius, Epica, Megadeth, Lacuna Coil and Symphony X.
Although they come from very different countries with different languages (Brazil and Colombia) it didn't take long before they started working on some of their own songs and realized how much their musical styles had in common. The project they created was originally a 4 piece band, joined by 2 other fellow LACM students on bass and drums.
Shortly after, Obsidian Silence began performing and gaining notoriety by playing in school events and showcases, including the LACM welcome party in spring 2013 as well as gigs in outside venues such as The Other Door in North Hollywood. After a few lineup changes they were joined by Jose and Aldo. The band kept writing new material and went on to play other venues such as the Witzend in Santa Monica, the Universal Bar and Grill in Studio City and the Boardner's in Hollywood.
Combining aggressive yet beautiful vocals with heavy and progressive instrumental elements allows them to deliver their own brand of hard rock. Obsidian Silence also writes lyrics that are not afraid to explore topics such as human psychology, politics and philosophy, allowing them to stand out in a music scene that is overflowing with rock and metal bands.
