The Utah State Board of Education just dropped its 2022 “report card” on Utah students’ test scores, growth, and postsecondary readiness. It’s not all pretty–about a third of Utahn students are grade-level proficient in math, English, and science. Race and income play a major role in determining the effect of the pandemic on kids’ reading levels, and last year’s kindergarten attendance drop is seeming to have an effect on elementary school reading levels. Dave and guest host Maura Cabello talk to Ann-Michelle Neal, Accountability Specialist with the Utah State Board of Education, to analyze the results.

The Kingdom has been under fire in recent years for the killing of Washington Post journalist Jamal Kashoggi, an inhumane war in Yemen, and now the squeezing of Western oil buyers. Joining the show is ABC News Correspondent, Faith Abubey, who breaks down the Saudis’ role in the recent OPEC supply cut and what a future will look like without the US-Saudi Arabia alliance.

Many Americans have yet to turn in their ballots... including those of Generation Z. Boyd Matheson, Host of Inside Sources joins the show to discuss if Gen Z is becoming more civically engaged and how they could impact the 2022 midterms.

The debate as to whether Utah needs a gondola for transport up Little Cottonwood Canyon has burned for years. On October 5, the Salt Lake County Council voted against the project, citing a price tag of $550 million dollars and a projected lowering of current traffic levels by only 30%. Public comment ends on Monday. Guest host Maura Carabello explains what she knows about the project and how public comment is going.
