On October 24, 1961, 31-year-old Joan Risch vanished from her Lincoln, Massachusetts home in broad daylight. Her four-year-old daughter told a neighbor, “Mommy is gone—and the kitchen is covered in red paint.”
When police arrived, they found blood smeared on the walls, a tipped table, and a phone ripped from the wall—but no sign of Joan. A trail of blood led to her car and stopped.
