The story of Naomi, Ruth, and Boaz is one of faithfulness, love, and welcome. What may not always be highlighted when studying this passage is just how above and beyond every character takes their love and loyalty for one another. Naomi, during her time in a foreign land, loving her daughters-in-law, and then looking out for Ruth once the two of them travel back to Bethlehem. Ruth, with her unmoving determination to care for her mother-in-law and make a life for both of them together in Bethlehem. Boaz, in his role as kinsman-redeemer, also born to a foreigner, welcoming and loving Ruth, and caring for her and Naomi rather than passing them off to someone else.

So shall we all act in our own context, with faithfulness, love, and welcome of others.
