35,000 runners had come from around the world to compete in one of the preeminent marathons. The 30th annual Chicago Marathon was an unusually sweltering hot 87F or 30C Sunday morning in early fall of 2007. It was a horror movie; runners described chaotic scenes of racers throwing up, passing out or being carted away on stretchers in obvious distress.
