To Yana's dismay and Ted's astonishment, Darcy shows up at their house for a brief visit bearing a gift. Darcy eventually persuades Ted to let her stay in spite of his initial resistance, which he bases on Yana's plans and his professional obligations in ODDITY on Afdah Movies. Ted receives a big chest from Darcy with a wooden man inside before he departs for work. Yana gives up and stays at home since she misplaced her car keys. Yana explores the Wooden Man and inadvertently reveals the reason behind its gifting while Darcy naps. The arrival of The Wooden Man is not comforting in the slightest. Its lifeless eyes staring forward and its gaping mouth make its presence uncomfortable. The combination of wide shots and close-ups of Yana interacting with The Wooden Man successfully portrays how it fills the space with an unsettling vibe in the film.
