Sermon for the Eighth Sunday after Pentecost (Sunday July 15, 2018) By Reverend Shelley McVea
Two banquets, and two vengeful wives. At one banquet David dances before the ark and before the Lord in joy. At the other banquet a woman dances so beautifully that Herod promises her she may have anything she desires. What if the one thing that she desires is the head of John the Baptist brought to her on a platter?
Appointed readings are:
• 2 Samuel 6: 1-5, 12b-19
• Psalm 24
• Ephesians 1:3-14
• Mark 6: 14-29
