Many of you will know our gest for this episode, Vince VE6LK.  He is a co-host on the Ham Radio Workbench podcast.  Vince is interested in a wide range of ham radio topics and loves to stretch himself by diving into some interesting technical topics.  But Vince is also grounded in the practical use of ham radio in the field, with his involvement in Emergency Communications.

Making a Great Ham Radio Station for Summits on the Air #15 Season 4


We hear from Allen Le Vie KH7AL in this episode. He shares stories about adventures outdoors while operating ham radio. He grew up western Washington State and retired from the Air Force in 2020 after nearly 23 years on active duty.  He loves operating mountaintop portable while participating in Summits On The Air (SOTA).  As of March 2024 he has over 135 activations. all of which are unique.  He has a YouTube channel where he promotes portable QRP operating.  Many of his activations are in the state of Montana.

He also serves as the SOTA Association Manager for the Hawai'i Islands, KH6 association.

Steve Hartley is an expert QRP homebrewer and kit builder. He has completed numerous projects since getting his start back in 1983, before he was licensed as a radio amateur. He is a well-known advocate of ham radio, serving in various leadership positions for amateur radio organizations.  Further, he volunteers much of his time providing teaching opportunities to adults and youth.  He currently serves as chairman of the GQRP Amateur Radio Club, a club dedicated to promoting QRP homebrewing and kit building.
