Welcome back to another episode of OFF THE DAIS. If you left Reno in 2015 and returned for the first time in 2022, you perhaps wouldn't recognize it. This week, Jenny takes a deep dive into the growing presence of Reno's warehouse and distribution facilities over the past several years and the impacts they have had on our growing community.
Jenny covers land use issues, compatibility and the infrastructure that is needed to support them, traffic and air quality issues associated with them, and the role they play in our changing economic landscape.
Thank you for listening!

Welcome back to another episode of Off The Dais. This week's episode is special! On April 18, 2022, Jenny hosted a telephone townhall with nearly 3,000 attendees calling in to have their questions answered and their concerns heard. No topic was off the table in this 60 minute conversation including affordable housing, Downtown Reno, local fuel taxes, and how Jenny will restore integrity in the Mayor's office in 2022.

Welcome back to another episode of Off The Dais. The stressed housing market in Reno continues to put economic pressures on an increasing population. This includes current residents, and people moving to the area—households of all different life stages. Housing starts with design and this week I had a lengthy conversation with Mike McGonagle. An architect, business owner, and compulsive public records hacker, Mike reads the tea leaves of the local real estate market from a unique perspective. Mike earned his Masters of Architecture from Harvard School of Design.

HOA's or Homeowner Associations (and other affiliated names) are something many Reno communities are apart of...but what are they really? What role do they provide, and in current times, what are they being asked to manage? On this episode of Off The Dais, Jenny speaks with award winning high-rise HOA president Ronda Theisen, and Don Lamers, a Supervising Community Association Manager about the highs and lows of taking on leadership duties in the communities they live in or represent.

Rockery and Retaining walls. What are they? How do they work? What happens when they fail? And who pays when they need repairs?
Since at least 2018, Jenny has inquired about current standards regarding community retaining walls, and has asked to have these standards reviewed, to no avail. Now, on the first episode of OFF THE DAIS, Jenny speaks with Ken McNeil, a resident of Sommersett, who has appeared before the Reno City Council many times on the topic, and Brooke Siem, a Ward 4 resident, and HOA president of her townhouse community.
Hear their stories and learn how failing retaining walls in these communities have impacted them and their neighbors now!
Thank you for listening!
