The Jews were enslaved thousands of years ago and celebrate Passover every year to remember and celebrate their freedom from slavery - and as a group have persevered and thrived beyond adversity. There are lessons to be learned as we look at the conversations today for equality for Black Americans. Rabbi Cohen is a man of deep spirituality with a modern coolness who brings his years of experience as Rabbi, scholar, lawyer, columnist, author and father of five including a downs syndrome child to the conversation. His reasons for the many pivots in his life are beyond interesting including the off the nose moment he left law to head to Israel with no plan in place. The parallels of Jews and Blacks were most recently highlighted on twitter by a NFL player and Rabbi Cohen speaks to this. As well as bringing light and hope to all of us for moving forward. No matter your religion or lack thereof we need more of Rabbi Cohen in this world.
