Listen Later

This week we've got legendary British weightlifter and powerlifter Delroy McQueen

Starting out in his teens, Delroy discovered weightlifting and quickly rose through the ranks thanks to natural talent and excellent coaching, culminating in competing in the 2002 Commonwealth games, taking home hold with a 165kg Snatch and a 210 Clean & Jerk.

in 2004 he  changed sports to Powerlifting, winning his first meet with a 850kg total.  His career best to date is 1055kg and he's only just getting started. Watch this great clip of Delroy up against Andy Bolten  in 2018 (spot an earlier guest of ours who is currently battling Covid, Get well soon Dave!)
