Introduction & Roll Call: TMO, Derek, Vladz, Whiskey
Welcome to the last show of OFR Season 9. Eps 52 episode, and if you are counting along at home… 52 weeks in a year…. 52 episodes means = We don’t miss!! Maybe a day or 2 delayed like when we all went to Nashville but we what we lack in probably many other areas we are at least consistent. In fact it might have been years since we’ve missed a week. Good trivia question, can you name the week we didn’t put out an OFR show? Tweet us with the answer.
Giving E3 a pass?
Sony pulls out of E3 Speaking of consistency, Sony has been at the last 24 E3 shows. But not this time…. “As the industry evolves, Sony Interactive Entertainment continues to look for inventive opportunities to engage the community,” said Sony in a statement. “PlayStation fans mean the world to us and we always want to innovate, think differently and experiment with new ways to delight gamers. As a result, we have decided not to participate in E3 in 2019. We are exploring new and familiar ways to engage our community in 2019 and can’t wait to share our plans with you.”
According to a leak, Sony is gearing up to announce the PS5 in the middle of next year with a “small reveal”, which will be followed by a full-blown reveal at the end of the year when Sony returns for PSX, following a year off for that as well this December. New details on the PlayStation 5 and the PSVR 2 have emerged
So no new games to announce, nothing going on with services and probably don’t want to spend time trying to work how to address the ability to change your gamertag set to some weird music thing that Sony always does at E3. Here are some games they’ve been talking about that haven’t come out yet:
Days Gone - April 26, 2019 (1st revealed E3 2016)
Ghost of Tsushima - TBA (1st revealed Paris Games Week 2017)
Dreams (Beta maybe in Dec) (1st tease July 2014, then announced at E3 2015, originally set to release 2016, but was delayed to 2017, then 2018 and now 2019?)
Death Stranding - Hideo Kojima confirmed that it will be released before the Tokyo 2020 Olympics (1st trailer was February 2017)
The Last of Us Part II (1st announced PlayStation Experience 2016, 2nd trailer was released Oct 2017 at Paris Games Week, featured role in 2018 E3) - the soundtrack for the game has a 2019 publishing date so 2019?
Of course Microsoft has done this too (cough Crackdown 3)
So…. after Microsoft’s presentation at E3 2019 - how many fanboys will take to twitter and proclaim Sony the winner again? Probably a ton. But even after getting beat on Hardware sales from the PS4, Microsoft and Xbox have been chugging right along providing content, services, expanded playability to your past purchases, and on and on…. The next Xbox (Project Scarlet) won’t be around until 2020 but..
Rumor has it that Xbox will announce a Xbox One without a disc-drive or those who want an cheaper digital only version.
Also they are working on a ‘disc-to...
