Ole Miss football over the weekend secured its second commitment for the 2025 recruiting class.  The Rebels might soon need a bigger boat.  Because they made a splash in reeling in Akylin Dear, ranked by On3 as the No. 34 overall recruit and No. 2 running back. Dear’s the No. 2 player in Mississippi. Dear could be just the start for Lane Kiffin and Co. as they attack a loaded in-state class this cycle.  Good thing, too. It seems Ole Miss fans will need the distraction after baseball got back to its losing ways with a weekend sweep (in Oxford!) at the hands of SEC-leading Kentucky. The Flagship: Lane Kiffin not the only Ole Miss Portal King on campus

Tre Harris’ phone didn’t ring for about two hours once his name hit the NCAA Transfer Portal last off-season. However, the floodgates opened once the first call came in.  Harris, then a transfer wide receiver from Louisiana Tech, could have gone anywhere. He ultimately chose Ole Miss over Oklahoma, Texas A&M; and Penn State. “I came here, it was just different,” Harris said, in a sit-down with his Rebel teammate, Jared Ivey, for this week’s all-new episode of the ‘Ivey League.’  The ‘Ivey League’ is presented by RiverLand Roofing and exclusively associated with, and distributed by, the Ole Miss Spirit.  Harris continued, “I felt like the entire program was different, the mindset. Whenever I was making my decision, I wanted to go somewhere where they had a (quarterback) and I could come in and be a guy right away. “All the things pretty much aligned perfectly and pointed to Ole Miss for me.”

Ivey League: Harris knew Ole Miss was ‘different,’ now helping lead ’24 title chase

Ole Miss football had three players selected in the 2024 NFL Draft. A host of others signed unrestricted free agent contracts. Next year’s cycle should be much more fruitful for the Rebels, who, last season, won 11 games for the first time in program history.
