The Dodgers flattened the Angels behind a revived Shohei Ohtani and a Roki Sasaki breakthrough, arriving at the Padres series with momentum. But the rotation math is still tightening as injuries force another depth move.
In this episodeOTANI IS BACK. SASAKI just broke through and the Dodgers embarrassed the Angels by a combined score of 31 to3 in Anaheim this weekend. Our take: Exactly — that play only becomes chaos for the Angels because Ohtani refuses to umpire it himself. The Dodgers have had a few of these lately where basic hustle turns into free runs, and that travels.
Our take: It is cruelly funny that Ohtani leaves Anaheim and somehow the baseball gods still make the Angels chase his ricochets. That franchise has seen enough Shohei highlights from the wrong angle to last a lifetime.
Our take: We buy that pitching brings out a different version of Ohtani, but calling the 50/50 MVP bat a reluctant side hustle is beautifully ridiculous. Most players would build a statue to their career year; he treats it like killing time between starts.
