In times when disease was thought to be caused by an angry deity, Imhotep and Hippocrates both looked to science, reason, and the observable world around them. Both physicians took their respective practices away from magical thinking to actually observing the human body, writing down observations, and taking measurements. Despite not having access to modern science, Imhotep of Saqqara and Hippocrates of Kos were way ahead of their time.
