It’s also just cool to see old people plugging things in to make music. There is something direct about the experience of watching someone who has obviously spent much of the life doing it and who still does it in public. It's not written as if to be impressive. It does feels like an extension of what they already have been doing for years. You can usually sense they are not in it for attention or money. Maybe they just like it and are used to it.

When you see an old person on stage holding an instrument, you start calculating in your head the years of their playing. Perhaps they began as kids. They probably still kept playing even after it stopped being their job. You like, question how they developed this style over time and how much of what they do is muscle memory versus muscle habit. You also consider what kinds of music they have watched come and go.

Sometimes they perform in small clubs or outside somewhere. They typically are not doing that to be loud or outward. They just look like they’re comfortable with what they are doing. You pick up these little things, like how they grip the instrument or tune it between songs. Everything feels slightly rehearsed in a good way.
