We are now in conversation with Daniela Lamparelli, a Wits University finalist of the Nedbank & Old Mutual Budget Speech Competition. The competition was launched in 1972 as a platform to empower and create exposure for the country's brightest young minds. The Competition calls on tertiary students across South Africa to put themselves in the shoes of the Minister of Finance by submitting their interpretation of the budget speech and come up with innovative and solution-oriented ideas to address key national challenges. The process culminates subsequent to the reading of the National Budget Speech by the Minister of Finance on 20 February 2019 at a Gala Dinner hosted by both Nedbank and Old Mutual and attended by the Minister of Finance. One undergraduate and one postgraduate student are selected as the winners based on how it complements the Minister's Speech in addressing the main issues of the day.
