In which we observe young Oliver subjected to a stern admonition from the cunning old Jew, while confined in a melancholy house that bears the weight of faded grandeur and neglect. Gradually, amidst dismal surroundings and the company of dubious companions, Oliver finds himself drawn into a world of unsettling discourse and dubious example, his innocent spirit exposed to corrupting influences.
