The eyes of the globe will turn to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on August 5 as the Olympic Games begin. While from afar, the world can enjoy watching thousands of athletes compete in 306 events across 19-days, the question remains whether Rio is actually ready for the games?
Fears over the Zika virus, not to mention infrastructural issues, the threat of a terrorist attack, environmental concerns, complaints over the Olympic village and public protests, have all been running themes as the beginning of the games approaches.
As newsrooms prepare to cover the 31st Olympics, this short documentary features Storyful journalists, including Brazilian-born Barbara Marcolini, our Director of News Joe Galvin and Global News Editor David Clinch, who share their insights of what the games may bring and how Storyful will be covering Rio.
