Omaha police report that on November 10 in the Benson neighborhood, officers responded to an alleged armed robbery in a convenience store involving a masked suspect displaying a handgun and taking cash from the register. Early morning November 12, near the Old Market district, police were called to an assault outside a bar. One individual sustained non-life-threatening injuries after an altercation involving several people. Officers interviewed witnesses and the case is under review.
On November 13 in South Omaha, patrol officers responded to reports of shots fired near 24th Street. Shell casings were recovered on scene but no injuries were reported. Police canvassed the area and the status of the investigation remains open.
Late evening on November 14, police and fire responded to a reported vehicle fire near 72nd and Maple, determined to be an alleged arson following preliminary investigation. No injuries were reported. The suspect remains at large and the case is active.
On November 15, in the Midtown area, an alleged theft of catalytic converters was reported in a hospital parking structure. Surveillance video is under review and there are no arrests at this time.
During the week, officers also responded to several reports of stolen vehicles, particularly in north and east Omaha, with most vehicles recovered within a day or two, some found with minor damage.
No fatal incidents were reported in the last seven days. Patterns this week include an increase in property thefts and catalytic converter removals, as well as a continued trend of reported shots fired in specific high-activity corridors.
