Good morning, weather watchers! I'm your meteorologist coming to you with a chilly forecast for Carter Lake, Iowa.
Bundle up, because winter is showing its teeth this weekend! We're looking at temperatures that'll make you want to hibernate. Overnight, we'll see partly cloudy skies with temperatures holding steady around 17 degrees Fahrenheit. Expect some serious wind with gusts up to 30 miles per hour from the north - so definitely grab that heavy coat!
Saturday brings a slight improvement with partly sunny skies and a high near 20 degrees Fahrenheit. Those north winds will still be kicking at around 14 miles per hour with gusts up to 26 miles per hour.
Saturday night gets downright frigid. We're talking temperatures dropping to around 1 degree Fahrenheit, with wind chill values plummeting to negative 12 degrees. Talk about a deep freeze!
Sunday continues the cold trend with sunny skies but a high of just 11 degrees Fahrenheit. Wind chill could reach as low as negative 16 degrees. Martin Luther King Day looks similar, with a sunny high of 12 degrees Fahrenheit.
Things start to warm up slightly by Tuesday, with temperatures climbing to a more bearable 20 degrees Fahrenheit. By Wednesday, we might even see temperatures reaching 38 degrees Fahrenheit - practically a heat wave by this weekend's standards!
