Aaron welcomes State Sen. Graig Meyer (D-Orange) for an update on the General Assembly in Raleigh. It’s ‘crossover’ week, so there’s a lot of activity – but not a lot of certainty yet about which bills will actually pass, since House and Senate Republicans seem to be at odds on a number of key issues. Democrats, meanwhile, are pushing for their own state budget priorities, including hurricane relief and Medicaid funding – not to mention trying to stave off tax cuts that are projected to create major budget shortfalls within two years.
Meyer also discusses funding cuts in Washington, DC – which have hit Orange County’s Congressional district harder than any other district in the nation – and shares ideas for how you can get active in a meaningful and impactful way.
