I took the call from the bed. It was not unlike them to call me at 2am because somebody was in a restraint.
Social work is not for the faint of heart. It is typically a thankless job. Those who stick it out in social work are about that life. They really are the most selfless humans that I have ever known. Their ability to deal with the pressures of the court system as well as their inner desire to nurture the kids humbles me to this day. Just when I think I am getting to that level I ask myself "Would you go do it, now for that money?". My genuine answer is no. I cannot. There are more reasons than money.
