Apple has approached magazine publishers about creating "iTunes for Print" with the magazines to be read on the company's upcoming tablet. The magazine industry thinks it can do it themselves. Senator Benjamin Cardin has proposed a bailout for the newspaper industry. We cringe. Let them become extinct - just as long as journalism doesn't die with them. We need journalism but we don't need newspapers. CNN just released their iPhone app. Sirius XM is now adding an additional $2 fee to your monthly bill to cover the performance royalty fees paid to musicians and artists. Since Howard Stern's deal with Sirius was tied to the stock price which is now at an all-time low, how will he have fared at the end of his contract? Howard Stern will be the greatest, most successful podcaster ever once his contract with Sirius XM is up. It would also make a great iPhone app! Click rates on display ads have dropped 50% to only 16% of the online audience. "The ad networks are ruining online publishing." -- Whiny Publishers CPM ads on videos are doing pretty well, according to Viddler. Free All Media wants to deliver ad-supported song downloads. It's like Deja Vu all over again... Pandora went from near death to profitability in a year's time. Steve actually uses his free 40 hours per month. Wow.
